After finishing 52-30 in the regular season, the Rockets advanced further in the 2024–25 campaign, securing the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. It was an outstanding season from a squad loaded with young talent, even though they were unable to build on their regular-season success with a long postseason run after falling to the Golden State Warriors in the opening round.
In a thrilling seven-game series, the Rockets lost to the Golden State Warriors after a difficult playoff run. Adams’ influence was evident, though, as the club finished second in the Western Conference with a strong 52-30 record largely thanks to his leadership and expertise. He was an invaluable addition during the playoffs, averaging 22.1 minutes per game.
According to statistical research, the Rockets had a positive 44-point advantage when he was on the court. Adams’ unwavering work ethic and strategic significance along the glass were further highlighted by the fact that he led the league in offensive rebounding percentage
With a summer full of difficult decisions on the horizon, the Rockets are seen as one of the front-runners for a Kevin Durant trade, but they have to decide which of their young players they would be willing to give up for the veteran forward. Houston must also choose whether to try to extend Fred VanVleet’s contract or exercise his team option, but whatever else happens, we know that at the absolute least, the Rockets will have the big Kiwi back in their center rotation regardless of what they do for the remainder of this summer.
